Be a Bringer of the Light

Conversations With God, Book 3
Neale Donald Walsch
Pages 68-69

Be a Bringer of the Light. For your light can do more than illuminate your own path. Your light can be the light which truly lights the world.

Shine on, then, O Illuminati! Shine on! That the moment of your greatest darkness may yet become your grandest gift. And even as you are gifted, so, too, will you gift others, giving to them the unspeakable treasure: Themselves.

Let this be your task, let this be your greatest joy: to give people back to themselves. Even in their darkest hour. Especially in that hour.

Quote of the Day

"We spend January 1st walking through our lives, room by room, drawing up a list of work to be done, cracks to be patched. Maybe this year, to balance the list, we ought to walk through the rooms of our lives... not looking for flaws, but for potential." ~Ellen Goodman

PS - I once received kudos from Ms. Goodman. I have saved her comments. They read: "Good Job, Cynthia! That didn't hurt, did it..."

How did I end up with these comments? I e-mailed her a copy of my column entitled The Liberal Leap, and she e-mailed me back a reply.

For those of you who don't know who Ellen Goodman is - she is a nationally syndicated liberal columnist.

Bad, Bad HR

Something needs to be done about a-holes who work for big companies. If you've got a case against a jerk of a boss or a lazy HR worker, take the bastards to court. They deserve to be sued. And if they spout a bunch of lies - and they will - write a book or a blog about them. But do not take crap off people without firing back. Holding these people accountable for their “crimes” will help the working conditions of future employees. (However, don’t expect anyone to feel any gratitude for your efforts. It’s something that is between you and your Higher Purpose, and Karma will reward you nicely.)

And So This Is Christmas

I'm not a big fan of Christmas music, but I love this song. No one says it better than John Lennon.

Touched by an Angel

This is a story I saw on a local news channel regarding the materialization of an angel in a Charlotte hospital.

The angel can be seen on film and was noticed by hospital employees, as well.

Freaky Cult Stuff

This is an excerpt from one of Victor Zammit's newsletters. I am posting it because there is a growing interest in spirituality, and people seem to be searching for something that traditional religion doesn't offer. This is not a bad thing, but dangerous cults are out there with their arms open wide. I've had some experiences with a cult myself, and I thank God that I was able to escape from their clutches basically unharmed. Not everyone is so lucky.

******************************************************************************************

"CULT MEMBER? Never give up your independence! Never allow others to make decisions for you!

I’ve had over the years a number of people wanting to know if it’s alright to belong to a cult. No, I repeatedly said. Why not? Because being a member of the cult you have to obey the commands – direct or subtle as they may be given by the guru. He or she will try to make you feel guilty, inadequate and in urgent need of the guru’s help. Guru activities are about brainwashing.

Mother

My mother’s birthday is today, and I cannot help but to think of her.

I wish I could say many, many lovely things about her – indeed, she did have a good side. But there was another side of her, as well. Again, John Lennon describes my own feelings so adequately in his song Mother.

Parents of the world – please let your children know that you love them. If you don’t, they will grow up with a void inside them that no one else can fill. Not feeling wanted by one’s parents creates an internal sadness and longing that never fully goes away.

Nobody Loves You When You're Down

I once said that I would not mention the day that John Lennon was killed, preferring instead to remember his life and legacy. And yet, today is the day, and I find my thoughts drifting back to that December day in 1980.

Since I've been on the topic of depression, this is a John Lennon song that speaks volumes about the condition.
I am posting it in his honor and memory.

Depression vs. Life

Writers are advised to write about what they know, and since I know what depression feels like, I thought I’d share an inside view of the disorder. (And please know that I am not in a depressed state at this time, although I know the robber-of-life can return at any moment.) This was written in an attempt to articulate the ruthless and insidious manner in which Depression seeks to control another person’s body, mind and spirit.

In a previous post, I spoke of evil and deception. Depression, if thought of as a beast or demon, is very deceptive. If thought of as a medical condition, it is simply a matter of the brain not producing enough serotonin to keep the emotions balanced.

If you are depressed, it is very important that you find supportive and caring people to help you break free from Depression’s hold. If you don’t have a network to turn to, you may contact me through my Youtube or Care2 account. Peace.

John Lennon - Finally Forgiven

Vatican 'forgives' John Lennon
By David Willey
BBC News, Rome

A Vatican newspaper has forgiven the late English singer John Lennon for saying four decades ago that The Beatles were more popular than Jesus.

In an article praising The Beatles, L'Osservatore Romano said Lennon had just been showing off.

Lennon told a British newspaper in 1966 - at the height of Beatlemania - that he did not know which would die out first, Christianity or rock and roll.

At the time, the comparison sparked controversy in the US.

The semi-official Vatican newspaper marked the 40th anniversary of The Beatles' "White Album" with an article praising Lennon and the Fab Four from Liverpool.

Wings of Madness

If there's one thing I would like to accomplish with my life, it would be to offer hope to those who are feeling hopeless. But this is a large job, and I cannot do it on my own. The sad fact is that most people simply do not care about other people, especially if depression or some other form of mental illness is present. Even family and friends become frustrated over the depressed person's moods and behaviors to the point where they withhold support and compassion.

Please, if someone you know is suffering from depression, learn how to show them gentleness and concern - even if this is not a natural part of your personality. The depressed person is lost in a long, dark tunnel and may be panicked, feeling their very life slipping away from them. Many with depression describe this as an overwhelming sensation of dying from the inside out, and their body reacts as though they were drowning or suffocating.

No Place Like Home

I watched a dozen videos of The Wizard of Oz and finally found one that depicts the journey through Oz as a spiritual one. If you're aware of metaphysics and the chakra system, you'll see that Glenda waves the magic wand over Dorothy's crown chakra - and this is where we find "Home."

Spiritual Confirmation and The Wizard of Oz

This was in today's in-box from Victor Zammit, a lawyer who studies paranormal/spiritual matters. Truth can always be found in synchronicity.

THE WIZARD OF OZ

"The brilliant, highly evocative music of WIZARD OF OZ, which was voted as the best song ever in 2002, motivated Brian Alexander Nelson to suggest to us that THE WIZARD OF OZ has to be seen in a spiritual perspective, in a symbolic way. I found the suggestion quite fascinating. It is to do with the scarecrow the lion and the tin man. If we view the yellow brick road as the journey through life we are all here to develop our hearts, our minds and our courage. And like Dorothy we need to learn that all knowledge is within us and we can go home any time we want to by turning our focus inward."
