Well, those raging fundamentalists are on the warpath again - and this time Oprah Winfrey and Eckhart Tolle are the targets.

Most of the protesters probably don't even know that a large part of the webcast and book is about rising above the ego – something we all need to do more often. There’s also advice about overcoming personal pain and traumas, living in the present and not the past, and forgiving others. Clearly none of this is from the devil. To state otherwise is very narrow-minded and judgmental, indeed.

Fundamentalists, it seems, are forever on the witch hunt, condemning any book, movie, or record that conflicts with their point of view. This self-righteous attitude causes more harm than good. It also tends to fail or backfire, since rallying against something only draws more attention to it.

There are millions of people who are reading Tolle's book and tuning into this webcast – some who are Christian, some who are from other faiths, and some who are agnostic or atheist. It is an all-inclusive program which does not discriminate based on one’s particular faith or lack thereof.

I wish more people would tune into the program. Then they’d realize that it is the ego (and only the ego) which proudly proclaims: “My God is better than your God!”
