Once I wrote about a certain cold spot that was in my heart. I also wrote that I didn't like this cold spot and wanted it removed from me. It's been a while since I made that post and developments have since occurred.

In the weeks that followed, you might say that I was visited by angels or spirit guides who helped me remove this cold spot. During the evenings, I heard soft and comforting voices in my ear, and I felt a strong tugging, pulling sensation in my chest area. Then the tears came, night after night, week after week. Considering my history with depression, I did wonder if the condition had returned. But this time it didn't feel like depression. It didn't feel like hopelessness or despair. It felt like all the hurt that I'd stuffed deep inside me was finally coming to the surface where it could be released and healed. Then one night, I heard myself say, "Thank you. I no longer feel the cold spot. It's gone."

I know that some people like to ridicule topics like this; it's one thing to talk about angels at church and another to actually feel their presence working in your life. But I can't worry about what other people may think. They have their own souls to attend to or ignore, and I have mine. And my soul didn't want hatred living inside it.

This doesn't mean that I approve of or condone the behaviors of others that created this cold spot, but it does mean that I'm cutting them some slack for being human and short-sighted in their dealings with me. It also means that I don't wish them harm or hard times anymore. As an unknown but excellent author once pointed out: "Negative feelings such as anger, envy and resentment must be understood and redirected or they will suffocate the life out of you and poison the universe that surrounds you."

And so it is.
