Can vs. Cannot

I cannot tell you your heart’s desire, only your heart can tell you.

I cannot tell you your path to God, only God can tell you.

I cannot be a replica of you or anyone else, for I am uniquely my own person.

I cannot be your sidekick, blindly following your wishes without regard to my own inner development.

I cannot impose my will upon you without repercussions to our relationship and vice versa.

I cannot intentionally invade your thoughts or your sacred space as long as I am honoring your right to BE, the most basic human right we have.

I cannot follow the path of condemnation when I have chosen one of love and grace.

I cannot live inside a box, nor do I have the right to force you outside of yours.

I cannot follow your calling (whatever that may be) when I have one of my own.

I can tell you that I love you spiritually and honor you as a human being and a soul.

I can tell you that I will miss you when your presence is no longer near me.

I can tell you that I wish you well and sincerely mean it.

I can tell you that we are more alike than we are different.

I can tell you that you are part of my dreams, my hopes, and yes, sometimes my fears.

I can tell you that we will meet again, be it in this lifetime or in a place outside of time and space.

I can tell you that I’m grateful for having met you, otherwise, I might not have made it this far.

I can tell you that, on our death beds, we are more likely to cry out for God’s mercy and forgiveness than to waste precious time pointing our finger at others.

Why we fail to live our lives this way is something that I cannot tell you.
